Glory Days

Bruce Springsteen is a dude. He wrote (actually I'm not sure he wrote it but he sang it and it's a damned good song) a song called Glory Days.

I had a friend was a big baseball player back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadsidebar
I was walking in and he was walking out
We went back inside sat down,
had a few drinks but all he kept talking about was
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

There's a girl that lives up the block
Back in school she could turn all the boys' head
Sometimes an a Friday I'll stop by and have a few drinks
after she put her kids to bed
Her and her husband Bobby well they split up
I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times,
She says when she feels like crying she starts laughing thinking about
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Think I'm going down to the well tonight
and I'm going to drink till I get my fill
And I hope when I get old I don't sit around thinking about it
but I probablywill
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture a little of the glory of,
but time slips away and leaves you with nothing mister but boring stories of glory days
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

This song has been in my head all day long and it made me think lots and it made me very determined to appreciate the here and now for all it gives me. I know I say this all the time ("A sinner's life is filled with all these good intentions.") but it's better to try and fail than not bother at all, no? Part of this appreciating stuff involves getting to school on time (it made sense when I thought it) so tomorrow I am going to be good and get to school on time and also take a camera to school so I can take lots of prettiful pictures of prettiful things (this is a way of appreiciating them).

In other news: my bus crashed this morning, which was.... interesting. Anyway, I'd best be off. Hugs and kisses.

DRUMS and VODKA!

Hello children. Recently a lot has been going on. I turned 17. I am now extremely old and obviously responsible. If pedestrians and road users are unlike I might be unleashed on the road (this will probably not be for a while as I do have work to do and have done absolutely nothing to find an instructer, etc). However, before I managed to get round to turning 17, Fan came round for coffee and cake (I'd promised him both and I kept my promise. :D My room was tidy (which is a rare occurance) so Fan was allowed in. As pictures, we played the drums, and then we played with Vodka Then we got inventive and played with Vodka on the drums! I bought 40 sachets of instant cappuccino, which tastes SO GOOD! It's gorgeous. Anyway, I have tried to interwieve (?) pictures of my evening with Fan into the post. Other things that happened were... I gave up Theatre Studies AS. NOT because it's a Mickey Mouse subject- I love it- but because I couldn't cope with all the subjects I was doing. Other fun things.... erm, I've joined a DofE group to do my Silver expeditions and my Gold. I'm gonna do them in a canoe! YAY! I loooove water. Hm, not much else has been a-going on. I've been working thousands, but that's not new. Oh yeah. On the 24th October I started kayaking... so about a month ago... on the Thames! It's amazing and very fun.... wet though- lots of innuendo. I've gone fully in twice and partly in a couple of times- all on purpose of course! I saw the Red Hot Chille Peppers and Keane and some super cool people called Bellowhead (or something like that). I went to a recording of Later with Jools Holland and it was very good- and completely free! This BloggerBeta thing is fun... they're working the alliteration! Rock on and smile! Huggles. Here is a pretty sunflower because it's bright and yayful! YAY!
